CHALLENGE RULES

This is a Dark Art Challenge Blog where I will provide a Spooky Theme every week to challenge your Dark Imagination and inspire you to create some frightful but fun art!

The Types of Art accepted in the Challenge are as follows: Digital Art, ATC Cards, Mixed Media Art, and Assemblage. Not all of the themes will have a dark side, some of the themes will also a fun, frivolous side to the unusual as well as a lot of fantasy themes too!  Do not be afraid to push your artistic talent to the next level with the weekly themes! Go beyond your boundaries and create something from your soul, no matter how unusual or strange your artistic endeavors might be at the time of creation! This is the time to bring out the surreal, abstract artist you have within yourself! Step out of the box, push the envelope!! Even Mary Shelley had to create Frankenstein before she could write about him! Be Brave!

And having said that...also keep in mind that this is a Dark Art Challenge Blog BUT please no extreme dark images, gory effects, no Satanic matter, and Absolutely No Nudity! Keep it tasteful! We want to inspire at the same time we scare and even though the subject matter is dark, I want to keep it light if you know what I mean!

You will link your art for each theme in the comment section and also please try to leave a comment for the other artists who have participated for that week! We want to keep the good feeling flowing and good comments are always appreciated!  Also leave a link on your blog with the address of this blog so that any visitors looking at your artwork might be inspired to join in on the fun and with just one click, will find us very easily!!! I will also provide a Blog Button that I would love for you to display on your blog!

Also be honest and watch the copyright of the images you use to create your artwork. Wikipedia is a really good source to look up Copyright Laws and Regulations.

I will also have a Frightful Freebie Page where you can download free images to use for the Themes. I will try to post new images each week so you will have plenty of darkness to inspire you to create something Frightfully Good!

I suppose that is enough rules for right now as we have more important things to do like starting the Challenge Blog and getting the Spooky Themes Rolling in time for Halloween! I am so ready to Spook you, Chill you, Thrill you with Haunted Good Fun every week!

If you have any questions, please leave them in the comment section and I will try to get back with you with an answer as soon as I can!

Thank you,

Kym Decker

  1. Okay! Thank you for the invitation, Kym, this should be interesting! 😊 I have a question about our challenge art - I use AI generated art, then make changes in one or more of three programs, adding, deleting, changing until it's just what I want. I have a lot of computer graphic elements that I used to use before AI, and I still use lots of those, too. Is that acceptable?
